A Patent is an exclusive right granted for an invention to the patentee by the government. The validity of the patent is normally 20 years from date of filing of patent application.

• It should be capable of Industrial application
• If the patent is granted to an invention then the grant is valid to the territory of the country.

Yes, If the patent application is filed in India, within one year from the date of filing the applicant needs to file patent application outside India. If the applicant wishes to file more no of countries then the applicant can file international patent application through patent co operative treaty (PCT), then instead of filing separate convention application, on international application may be filed to several other countries.
